One for the books today! Sanjana and I headed out this summer afternoon around 3:30 pm with partly cloudy skies overhead, perfect conditions for what we had planned down in Florida. The weather stayed cooperative most of the day, though we got a little wet when that late afternoon rain rolled in, but that's just part of the game in gator country!
Once the stage was set, we focused on pack hunting and scent tracking techniques that work so well in this terrain. The dogs picked up sign early and we switched over to drive hunting when the conditions called for it. Florida's diverse landscape gives us plenty of options for these methods, and the afternoon timing worked perfectly for our approach.
We didn't notch a tag on this hunt, but every hour in the field was worth it! The pack work was solid and the tracking kept us moving through some prime territory. Even with that rain at the end, we had a blast working the area and seeing how well everything came together.
