Hot bite and happy crew! Pooja and I headed out for some late afternoon backcountry fishing around Jacksonville this summer, starting around 4 in the evening. The weather was looking good at first but we could see clouds building up for later with rain coming our way. Water conditions at Butler Beach were holding steady and looking promising for what we had planned.
Once the stage was set, we worked through multiple techniques to keep the action going - started with some fly fishing then switched over to spinning with lures and finished up with bait fishing to cover all our bases. Pooja picked up some nice Northern Pike and we also got into some Rainbow Trout throughout the trip! Jacksonville's backcountry waters are perfect for this kind of mixed approach because you can work different depths and structures all in the same area. We wrapped up just as the rain started rolling in but not before landing some solid fish and having a blast out there in gator country!
