Action-packed day from the get-go! Took Meena out for a December afternoon hunt down in Florida City, and the partly cloudy skies made for perfect conditions to start. We headed out around 1 PM with hopes high, ready to work the brush country before any weather moved in. Ray Chaters had us set up for what looked like a solid hunt!
Once the stage was set, we focused on still hunting through the thick cover, moving slow and quiet through the natural draws. The terrain down there is perfect for posting at those natural funnels where game likes to move through. We switched over to some drive hunting when the wind picked up, working the brush methodically. Unfortunately we didn't notch a tag on this hunt, but every hour in the field was worth it! Right when that late afternoon rain started rolling in, we called it a day.
The Butler Beach area gives us incredible access to prime hunting ground, and December is when the action really heats up. Y'all know how these brush hunting trips can go - sometimes you get busted, sometimes the game just doesn't cooperate, but that's hunting! We had a blast working those natural corridors and Meena picked up some solid experience in the backcountry.
If you're thinking about booking a brush hunting adventure, our hunted ground package with Ray Chaters covers all the best spots around Florida City. We specialize in still hunting and drive techniques that work perfect in this thick cover, and December through early spring gives us the best opportunities. Our afternoon hunts let you sleep in and still get quality time in the field, plus we know every natural funnel and game trail in the area. Whether you're new to hunting or looking to try different techniques, we'll put you on game and teach you how to read the country like a local!
