Non-stop bites all day long! I took Patelss out for a December afternoon hunt, and we had perfect conditions to start with before it got cloudy later on. The winter season brought cooler temps which had the game moving, and we kicked off our hunt around 2 PM with Ray Chaters.
With our gear rigged and ready, we focused on still hunting through the thick brush, moving slow and quiet to catch movement. When that didn't produce, we switched over to drive hunting tactics, pushing through the cover methodically! The afternoon hunt worked perfect for this type of brush hunting - animals were active and moving before the weather started changing on us.
We mixed in some push hunting techniques when we hit the thicker areas, working the terrain smart and staying patient. The cloudy conditions that rolled in actually helped keep things cooler and the game didn't bed down like they do on those scorcher days. We didn't notch a tag on this hunt, but every hour in the field was worth it - that's just how it goes sometimes in gator country!
If y'all are thinking about booking a brush hunting trip, our hunted ground offers some of the best still hunting and drive hunting opportunities you'll find. We work the thick cover using proven push hunting methods that put you in position for success. Our December hunts take advantage of cooler weather patterns and active game movement, and I know these areas like the back of my hand after guiding here for years. The afternoon hunts work great because animals are moving to feed before dark, and we can cover a lot of ground using different techniques. Ray Chaters specializes in this type of hunting, and we'll put you on game if they're moving - book your hunted ground experience and let's get after it!
