One for the books today! San and I headed out this October afternoon for some serious brush hunting down in Florida, partly cloudy skies with rain threatening all day but that didn't slow us down one bit! Started around 2 pm which gave us perfect timing for the evening movement, weather was holding steady and we were ready to get after it with Ray Chaters.
With our gear rigged and ready, we focused on still hunting through the thick cover, moving slow and steady through the brush. The push-through method worked like a charm and we managed to tag both white-tailed deer and mule deer! Florida's diverse terrain gives us perfect opportunities for drive hunting when the conditions line up right.
The afternoon hunt kept us busy, switching between still hunting the dense areas and coordinating our drives through the heavier cover. Y'all know how it is down in gator country - you gotta work smart and stay patient, but when it comes together it really comes together! We wrapped up with tags filled and no case of buck fever to speak of.
If you're thinking about booking a brush hunting adventure, our hunted ground here in Florida offers some of the best opportunities for both white-tailed and mule deer hunting. We specialize in still hunting and drive hunting techniques that work perfect in Florida's backcountry terrain, and October is prime time for action. Ray Chaters has been guiding these waters and woods for years, and we know exactly where to find the deer when they're moving. Whether you're new to brush hunting or looking to try the push-through method, we'll get you set up right and put you on the game!
