Reel in Summer Excitement: Inshore Fishing off Butler Beach!

Action-packed day from the get-go! I took Krushna and their crew out for some summer inshore fishing with Ray Chaters off Butler Beach. We hit the water in the early morning hours, greeted by partly cloudy skies that stuck with us most of the day. The conditions at Butler Beach were prime for our target species. Ray Chaters knows these waters like the back of our hand, so we were ready to make the most of what the day had in store.

With our gear rigged and ready, we set out to try our luck with some live bait fishing, sight casting, and flats fishing. The variety of techniques kept things interesting as we pursued Mexican Mojarra and White Grunt in the shallows. The real highlight came when we hooked into a feisty Mahi Mahi, also known as Common Dolphinfish, stretching the tape to a respectable 14 inches. It was a solid catch that had us all grinning. We wrapped up just as some late afternoon rain started to roll in, but not before putting some good fish in the boat.

Florida's inshore waters never disappoint, and this trip was no exception. The mix of species we encountered showcases the diversity you can expect when fishing these parts. From the smaller but scrappy Mexican Mojarra to the always fun White Grunt, and topped off with that nice Mahi Mahi, it was a well-rounded day on the water. The flats fishing in particular was productive, allowing us to really dial in on some prime spots.
