I had a great time taking Kumar out on the water today for our Rock Sea trip with Ray Charters. June in Florida can be hit or miss for fishing, but we were hopeful for some action. We met up bright and early at 4:00 am in Florida Florida, ready to make the most of the day. The weather wasn't ideal with cloudy skies, but the water conditions were great, which is always a good sign.
We headed out and tried a mix of techniques to improve our chances. We started with some trolling, then switched to bottom fishing, and even gave live bait fishing a shot. I always like to mix things up to see what's working best on any given day. The cloudy weather actually can be good for fishing sometimes, keeping the water a bit cooler and the fish more active.
Though we didn't manage to land any big prize, we still had a great time out on the water, enjoying the scenery and good company. Kumar was a trooper, staying positive and engaged throughout the trip. We saw some interesting marine life and had a few close calls with some bites, which kept things exciting. The late afternoon rain came in, but by then we were already heading back, swapping stories about the ones that got away.
