Reel in Rainbow Trout at Dawn: Florida's Unexpected Catch

I headed out with Krushna and their crew for an early morning fishing adventure, launching from Florida Florida at 4:00 am in June. The weather was partly cloudy throughout the day, providing a mix of sun and shade as we explored the waters around Butler Beach. Despite the early hour, conditions were favorable for our target species. As a guide with Ray Chaters, I was excited to provide The best experience for our Rock Sea morning trip. Florida's extensive coastline offers diverse fishing opportunities. In the Keys, target bonefish on shallow flats using small shrimp patterns. Along the Panhandle, red snapper congregate near artificial reefs in 100-150 ft depths. Tampa Bay's grass flats hold speckled trout in 3-5 ft of water, best fished with soft plastics under a popping cork. Offshore, sailfish frequent the Gulf Stream current edges, typically 8-15 miles out.

We employed a variety of techniques to maximize our chances of success, including trolling, bottom fishing, and cast netting. These methods are well-suited for the diverse marine environment around Florida Florida, allowing us to target Rainbow Trout effectively. Rainbow Trout are not typically associated with Florida waters, but their presence highlights the unique fishing opportunities in this area.
