Reel in Exotic Species on Florida's Dawn-Lit Coastal Waters

I headed out with Kumar for an early morning fishing adventure in Florida's coastal waters near Butler Beach. We launched at 4:00 am in June, taking advantage of the pre-dawn hours when fish are often most active. The day started with partly cloudy skies, and we kept an eye on the forecast calling for rain later. Water conditions around Butler Beach were favorable for our target species. As a guide with Ray Chaters, I was excited to provide Kumar with The best experience on our Rock Sea morning trip. Florida's coastal flats offer prime sight-fishing opportunities for redfish, snook, and spotted seatrout. Anglers should target mangrove shorelines and oyster bars during incoming tides, using live shrimp or small crabs. In deeper channels, vertical jigging with bucktail jigs can be effective for grouper and snapper. Offshore, trolling with ballyhoo or strip baits near wrecks and reefs often produces wahoo, mahi-mahi, and sailfish.

We employed a variety of techniques throughout the day, including trolling, bottom fishing, and sight fishing. These methods proved effective as we targeted sooty grunter, Mexican mojarra, and red lionfish. These species are well-suited to Florida's diverse coastal habitats, from shallow flats to deeper offshore waters. No fish length data available.
