I headed out with Shrunga for an early morning fishing adventure in Florida this June. We launched from Butler Beach at 4:00 am, ready to tackle the inshore waters. The day started with partly cloudy skies, and we kept an eye on the horizon for potential storms. The water conditions at Butler Beach were favorable for our planned techniques. As a guide with Ray Chaters, I was excited to provide Shrunga with The best experience on this Rock Sea morning trip. Florida's diverse coastal and inland waters offer excellent opportunities for anglers. In the Everglades, target snook and tarpon around mangrove shorelines and oyster bars. Along the Gulf Coast, focus on redfish and speckled trout in grass flats and around docks in 2-4 feet of water. Offshore, grouper and snapper congregate near artificial reefs and natural limestone ledges in 60-100 feet of water. In freshwater lakes, target largemouth bass near hydrilla edges and lily pads using plastic worms or topwater lures at dawn and dusk.
We employed a variety of techniques to maximize our chances of success, including live bait fishing, sight casting, and flats fishing. These methods proved effective as we targeted sooty grunter and Mexican mojarra, two species well-suited for the inshore waters of Florida. While we didn't have specific fish length data to report, the action was steady throughout our time on the water. These inshore species are perfectly adapted to the diverse habitats found along Florida's coastline, making for an exciting and productive day of fishing.
